With Summer fast approaching, we thought we would give you some ideas on places to visit in Sheffield. After all, between studying and part time jobs, you need some time to yourself and to spend with friends.

Millennium Gallery

If you share a love for art, visit the Millennium Gallery, it’s Sheffield’s premier destination for art, craft and design. You can explore Sheffield's heritage and you'll find metal work known for making this city world famous. As well as design exhibitions and contemporary art some of the finest touring exhibitions are hosted here.
There is also a cafe if you fancy meeting up with family and friends for a bite of something to eat! Best of all, it’s FREE entry.

The Millennium Gallery is located on Arundel Gate (S1 2PP) about a 5-minute walk from Sheffield Train Station.

Meadowhall

Packed with all the shops you could ever need from clothing, gaming, stationary, cosmetics, nail salons and much more not to mention the Oasis dining quarter. Here you will find a wide range of fast food places and restaurants. You can enjoy a Tango Iceblast and popcorn while watching the latest films at Vue cinema.
Meadowhall is a great place to take your family when they come to visit or just to hang out with your friends.

Meadowhall is about a 10-minute tram journey from Sheffield City Centre.

Kelham Island Museum

If you're one for finding out more about history, Kelham Island could be the place for you. Opened in 1982 it’s home to pictures, archive material and objects representing the rich industrial history of Sheffield. This museum is located on a man-made island over 900 years old.
You can learn what it's like to work and live in Sheffield during the Industrial Revolution as well as seeing how the city adapted over time through the Victorian Era and both world wars.
There is also a cafe and gift shop that you can visit.

Crucible Theatre

The Crucible opened in 1971 and re-opened in 2010 after a £15.3 million re-development. It's the main stage for their in-house produced work as well as hosting the annual World Snooker Championships. The performance area extends into the auditorium, so the audience can watch action on three sides. No member of the audience is ever further than 22 metres from the stage.

Winter Gardens
Sheffield's Winter Gardens is one of the largest glasshouses that has been built in the UK during the past 100 years. There are over 2,500 plants here from various locations around the world. It also links directly to the Millennium Galleries previously spoken about.
Inside you will find coffee shops with tables looking in to the greenhouse.
