Exam Preparation

So, although Uni has just started again there is a lot to catching up to do. The best way to tackle this is to get stuck into it so here are a few tips for exam preparation.

Organise Workspace

Organising your workspace allows your mind to clear and focus on the task at hand. By knowing where everything is you won’t get distracted while looking for a highlighter for example. It’s important that you eliminate any distractions so you aren’t procrastinating. If it helps, bring some water and have some brain food so you can concentrate for longer.

Practice Exams

One of the best ways to go into an exam is, obviously, fully prepared. By taking old exam papers, you’ll gather a better idea of what is to come in new exam papers. Not only are the questions helpful but you will also be able to time yourself to see how long you spend taking the exam. This will also give you a rough idea of how much time to spend on each question too.

Study Group

If you are one of those people that really struggles to work alone, see if any of your friends will get together to study with you. They might also feel stressed and worried but the best thing to do is just ask. You could even try a change of environment and go get a drink in a local café and take your study materials with you. When you sit inside the same four walls constantly working on one thing, you can get a little stir crazy, especially after been stuck inside for four months straight.

Time for Yourself

Working for hours on end without any breaks can actually be quite damaging. Your brain will be going into overdrive and the harder you try to concentrate, the less information you will be retaining. Even if it’s only a fifteen-minute break to make a cuppa and have a biscuit then do it. If you are staring at your computer for long periods of time, you may get a headache or strain your eyes so regular breaks may help with this. Drinking lots of water also helps your brain to work at its best.
