How To Stay Organised This Autumn
You may well be a few weeks into your new university life by now, but things may still feel a little overwhelming. Keeping up with lectures, essays and your social life can be difficult especially in a new city, and things can feel like they’re getting on top of you. To help, here are a few tips that might help keep you organised this, Autumn.
The most important thing to do when trying to keep organised is to write down everything that needs to be done. It will be easier to organise if you pick one week at a time, so you don’t overwhelm yourself. Writing down what you need to do will help you plan how much time you’ll need to do everything.
Start by checking your university timetable so you can plan your work around your classes. Make a note of the dates that your work has to be done by so you can prioritise what’s needed first.
When making your ‘to do’ lists remember to leave time for yourself. This could be something as simple as planning to go for drinks with your friends in the evening, so you have some time to relax and get away from your work and studies.
If you have a part-time job, make sure you haven’t taken on too many hours. Your job should be to support you for social and university costs, but it shouldn’t get in the way of your studies.
If writing lists is not your thing, why not set reminders on your phone? Most of us are regularly on our phones or have them nearby so this will ensure you don’t forget anything. These reminders can be as simple as ‘do not forget your pen for your lecture’ but they will help keep you organised.
Also, remember to maintain a healthy diet. After all that studying, work and going out with friends it is easy to live on fast food but in the long run that is not a good idea, for your health or your finances. Make sure somewhere in your busy schedule you have added time to go food shopping for essentials, and don’t forget to get your 5 a day!
