Easter is on its way and of course you deserve some time off from studying. You’ve worked hard to keep your grades up, not to mention the added stress and inconvenience of the strikes. So, it’s understandable you’ll want to recharge your batteries and catch up with family and friends. Having said that, you do get a reasonable amount of time off, so maybe you can also look at how you can spend some of that time furthering your education.
Work Experience
Just because you get a break at Easter, doesn’t mean that everywhere does. This is a great opportunity for you to try and find some work experience. Work experience may be part of your course. However, this doesn’t mean that you can only do one lot of work experience. Even if it is only for a couple of days, it’s something extra to add to your CV and demonstrates initiative.
Try thinking of a few places that are local to you and are of interest. Search for an email address for each of these places and send an email asking if they are offering any work experience placements. Be sure to include what course you’re studying at Uni and why you would be grateful for the opportunity.
When it gets to the summer holidays, you should start looking for internships.
Catch Up on Unfinished Work
There will be a lot of you that have already handed in their dissertations. But, for you third years, your turn is coming. It may seem like you have a lot of time to write it but in reality, you don’t. It’s better to get started straight away because as we all know, the longer you leave it, the less you’ll be motivated to get writing it later. Be sure to take all the necessary work home with you so you can write it with ease.
Meet Up with Friends & Family
This may not seem like the most productive thing to do. However, it will do your mental health good to catch up with friends and family. In a world where you might not live as close and your life is ruled by Uni and part-time jobs, it’s occasionally nice to get some normality back into your life. It also gives you the chance to off-load some of the stress that you’ve been holding in.
Volunteer
Volunteering is a great away to get out of your student accommodation and make a difference. Not only this but it helps you gain experience and confidence. It doesn’t matter if the role doesn’t link directly to your chosen career, there is always something you can take from the experience. Even if it is just a great feeling that you helped people.
However you choose to spend your Easter, we hope you enjoy it.
