The first week of Uni is so important to everyone, you all want to get it right, so what better way to do this than making sure you’re fully prepared?
Let’s look at the basic supplies you will need, both in lectures and out that won’t take up too much room in your student accommodation.
-
Diary
Essential. We know that many of you use your phones for writing down important deadlines but it can be easy to forget to check when you use your phone all the time, as dilly as that sounds, because you’re busy using it for different reasons. When you have a book that is specifically used for logging dates it’s easier to see it as part of your learning tools.
-
Notebooks & Pens
Again… essential. How else are you going to take notes? A little tip for you – if you use coloured pens there is a higher chance of you retaining the information.
-
Highlighters & Post-it Notes
Use highlighters to pick out key information that is going to help you further down the line. Post-it notes are great for adding side notes to anything you may want to add in a certain part of the text.
-
Paper Clips & Stapler
If you have a few loose pages in your notebook, you’ll want to make sure all of them stay together so you don’t find a random page and wonder which other pages it links to. Also, for any paper essays you may have to hand in, you’ll want to make sure the pages remain in the right order, so they make sense to the person reading them.
-
Binders & Folders
These will come in super handing for storing your work and any other material that you have throughout Uni. Plus; it will help you to organise your work.
-
Laptop & Memory Stick
You may not need to take this to lectures but you will be needing it for writing essays. Also, make sure that you always have a backup copy of your work by saving it on to your memory stick.
There might be other supplies that you need that are more specific to your chosen course, so you’ll want to ensure you have these as well but we hope this micro-blog has given you some tips as to the basic supplies you may need.
