Useful Tips When Moving to University
So, you just had some amazing news – the results you were so nervous and excited to receive are exactly what you need to get into the university of your choice!
Now you must start planning for your new adventure, and whether you are leaving home and heading to a new city or staying local, changes can sometimes be difficult.
But don’t worry, we are here to give you help and advice to make the transition go a little more smoothly.
Firstly, moving out after years of living at home with your parents can be difficult but remember your new life is waiting for you and with it will come lots much fun and freedom.
Here are a few tips on making moving out a breeze:
1.Make sure you have checked out your student accommodation well before moving day so you can get a feel for the space it offers. You can then work out what you can take with you.
2.If you are sharing a house or flat with people you have never met before, take time to meet up for a coffee or a meal before you move in so you can build relationships beforehand. It can be quite a daunting thought to live with new people, but you’ll soon make friends.
3. When finding a place to move into, check that your campus is not too far away and that there is suitable public transport to get you there. This will take away the stress after you have moved in of trying to work out your routes to ensure you are not late to any lessons. Also check there are social places for you to get to as university is also about having fun!
4. Have planned times to return home throughout the year so you and your family can have time off to see each other. This will eliminate numerous phone calls asking when you will be home, and it will give you something to look forward to whilst also giving you the time to get your assignments done.
