Have You Checked Up on Your Friends?
We all go through life dealing with our own problems, some are harder than others and it’s all too easy for people to bottle things up and not tell anyone. They may do this because talking about them makes it more ‘real’, they aren’t ready to talk about them or they may just feel embarrassed. You may even do this yourself.
Therefore, it’s important to talk about your issues with the people closest to you. Even if you’re going through a tough time yourself, please remember to check up on your friends too. See if there is any way that you can help and support them. We all know that ‘I’m fine’ doesn’t always mean that someone is okay. We all put on a ‘brave face’ and get on with day to day life but this shouldn’t mean that you suffer in silence, nor should anyone else.
Listen Carefully
Take your friends problems just as seriously as you would your own. No one likes to feel like they’re been made fun of for feeling a certain way. Reassure your friends that you will be there for them no matter what. Nowadays, most people post their thoughts and feelings all over social media so if you notice even the slightest change in any of your friends posts there’s no harm in checking in on them.
As students away from home you’ll experience big changes to your life, and you’ll need your friends more than ever. It can be difficult to stay in contact especially if you and your friends are in different universities, but no one is saying that you must talk to them 24/7. Just ensure that you check up on them occasionally.
We hope you found this micro blog useful, remember to stay safe, vigilant and look after one another.
