2021 – Valentine’s Day is going to be a quite different affair this year, but it does not mean it has to be a write off.

Where you would usually spend the day with your loved one, going for a meal, enjoying a night out at the cinema, or even just staying in together, unless you live with your special someone, you are going to have to think slightly out of the box this year.

If you are looking for different ways to mark the most romantic day of the year here are a few ideas that you can do right from the comfort of your student accommodation.

Teleparty (Netflixparty.com)

As the conventional ‘sat on the sofa watching a film’ is out this year, you can synchronise video playback through Netflix which adds group chat, so you can watch and chat together.  Why not add both of your favourite snacks and it will almost seem like you are together.

Virtual Date Night – Trivia Quiz

Obviously not your normal Valentine’s night, but we have all become so used to Zoom quizzes now, why not invite another couple to join you and make it a virtual double date.

Order Each Other’s Takeaway

Not wanting to cook for one? Try ordering your other half’s takeaway, something you know they love or something you would like them to try.  Sit down together on a video call and enjoy.

Virtual Cook Off

Choose a recipe that you would both really love.  Cook it up together over a video call and have fun while you are doing it.  Why not take photos and rate it out of 10? Whoever wins, owes the other a meal, when we are out of lockdown obviously.

Live Stream A Concert

We all know we are not able to see our favourite bands or comedians at the minute, but that does not mean the entertainment cannot come to you.  Search the internet for concerts or comedy shows that are streaming and watch them together.

Handmade Card and Love Letter

We have nothing but time on our hands right now, so why not get creative and make your better half a Valentine’s Day card? It will mean so much more than something you have bought online.  Try writing them a handwritten letter, nothing says ‘I Love You’ more than knowing you have taken the time and effort to sit and put pen to paper.  Spray the letter with your favourite perfume of aftershave to remind them of you.

Hopefully, these ideas will help to make this Valentine’s Day as special as any other year.  It will certainly be a memorable one, whatever you decide to do.
