Winter is here and there is so much to look forward to, Christmas, parties, presents, family time, a new year and more. However, with all the bad weather recently, we should all make sure we’re well prepared.
Taking Steps to Prepare for Winter:
- Wrap Up
As a student, you don’t want to be spending more money on heating because of the dropping temperatures. So, we recommend getting the blankets back out and make sure you leave some in the living room. Add a throw over your bed so you keep warmer at night and don’t forget to get the hot water bottles on standby. - Stock Up
When it’s bad weather outside, nobody feels like heading off to the shops so make sure that you stock up on all your winter essentials. Soup, hot chocolate, mince pies, cereals, bread (put a loaf in the freezer), vegetables, meat etc. Always keep some paracetamol and cold and flu tablets handy just in case. - Check the Weather
Before heading off to university or work, always check the weather. You may need to keep your hat, scarf and gloves at the ready. If the weather looks like it might rain but there is still some sun, make sure that you are wearing layers of clothing and the appropriate footwear. - Travel
If you happen to be driving, make sure you keep de-icer in your car along with some gloves and a torch. If you’re getting public transport, make sure your normal routes are still going to get you to where you need to be, on time.
We hope that this blog has given you a few snippets on how to prepare for winter.
