With the 1st day of spring quickly approaching on the 20th of March, you might be wanting to venture out of your student accommodation and check out the fantastic parks Sheffield has to offer. Did you know Sheffield is said to have more trees per person than any other city in Europe? Well here’s our ‘Guide to Sheffield’s Parks’.

After a long winter of lockdown and miserable weather, making the most of the longer days and the green space might sound like a great idea!

Endcliffe Park:

Located next to Hunters Bar roundabout, this park is great for warmer days with the field being popular for BBQs and sport. The café is available for take-away drinks and food and they have an ice-cream van most weekends!

Close to the majority of our student properties on Ecclesall Road and Hunters Bar, this park is a short stroll away from your door. With Sharrow Vale across the road, there is also the opportunity to check out what the independent shops have to offer, perfect student day out!

Botanical Gardens:

For a more relaxed day out, this park is perfect for a picnic or meeting your friends. From the beautifully kept lawns to the indoor gardens this park has a lovely, peaceful atmosphere. The park hosts 18 themed garden areas, including a Mediterranean Climate Garden, Asia Garden, Woodland Garden, and Rock and Water Garden.

The gardens are also great for squirrel spotting, with the tall trees and large flowerbeds providing great hiding spots for furry friends.

Peace Gardens:

Hidden in the centre of the city, the Peace Gardens are perfect for a stop-off whilst shopping on the high street. Being one of Sheffield’s most iconic landmarks, the fountains and green space are a great place for locals and students to relax.

In the summer they host ‘Sheffield on the beach’ consisting of food stalls and activities. If you’re feeling brave, you might even want to dip your toes in the fountains to cool off!

Weston Park:

A short walk from our student properties in Broomhill and Crookesmoor, this park has a variety of activities to offer. The scenic lake is a great spot for a picnic or entertainment feeding the ducks… watch your sandwiches! If you’re feeling more energetic, you can challenge your friends to a game of tennis, being able to book the courts online for a few pounds.

The park also has the Grade 2 listed building hosting the Sheffield City Museum, which shows the history and art pieces of the Steel City.
