New Year, New Me
With the New Year having landed and the last couple of years being restrictive it may be an idea to change a few things and have some ‘New Year, New Me’ time.
It might feel daunting to think of New Year’s resolutions, but here are a few small changes that could make 2022 a better year for you.
Now you’re settled back into university and all the festivities are out of the way it will be easier for you to concentrate on your work so why not make your studies one of your new year’s resolutions? There isn’t actually that much longer left of your university year once you go back after Christmas so focusing on your work and knowing it is in hand will help improve your January.
Another goal you could set could be to venture just a little further out than you have done previously. You can easily access Leeds, Nottingham, Manchester, Liverpool, York and even Cleethorpes from Sheffield train station. All of these lovely places offer many shops, bars, and restaurants so if you feel you haven’t gotten out much recently because of COVID, grab your friends and some train tickets and away you go!
If you’re short of money, then why not make saving one your new year’s resolutions? Make a schedule of what you can save each month and try and make your student loan really last. If you have a part-time job, try to put a portion of that away each week. If you haven’t already checked out the many ways in which students can save, check out sites such as UNiDAYS for some great deals.
Finally, if you still don’t feel confident enough to venture out or your finances are too tight, how about concentrating on yourself? Maybe that means losing a few pounds put on over Christmas, eating healthier, drinking less, a new hair style or even just regular chill-out days at home with your friends or house mates.
Exercising at home and going out jogging are things you can do that will make you feel better physically and mentally and they’re totally free! Try the couch to 5K for an easy start. There’s a free NHS app you can download to your phone.
Whatever you do, we hope you have a fantastic 2022, and remember, your year is what you make of it.
