With all the doom and gloom surrounding the Corona Virus we must try to find ways to remain positive. Focusing on the negatives too much can be damaging to your mental health. Maintaining a positive attitude is the best way to get through any crisis. If your friends are struggling during these times, be sure to get in touch by phone or online and perhaps remind them of all the things that we still have to be grateful for.

  • Try to think of the lockdown more as a holiday or a break

The word ‘lockdown’ in itself gives off connotations of being trapped like a prisoner. None of us like to feel as though we have no control over our lives but remember, at the moment we can still go out to exercise once a day. Take the time to do all the things that you wish you could do but don’t normally get the time.

    • Rearrange your bedroom
    • Tidy out your wardrobes and drawers
    • Read some books
    • Binge watch TV shows or watch all the same genre films in a day

Savour the small moments because sure enough it will soon be over, and we’ll all be back to our busy lives.

  • Reconnect with your family members using Skype or FaceTime

As we get older, our lives get busier and it becomes harder to find the time to connect with friends and family. Yes, we can find them annoying at times but whilst we’re all at home we ought to make the most of virtual contact and keep each other company. Stay connected with your friends too, again via phone, FaceTime or Skype. Simply by speaking to friends and family and seeing them on screen will help the situation seem a little more normal and put a positive spin on a negative situation.

  • Try to stick to a routine

Try to keep most of your days as normal as possible. When you get out of your routine, it can be hard to get back into it. If you have work to do, try to get this done in the morning so you have the afternoon free to do as you please. If you keep your routine as normal as possible it will help you when we come out of lockdown.

  • Stay as active as you can

Exercising regularly helps both physically and mentally. Since we can’t get out and about as much, it’s important to fit in exercise wherever you can. Exercising releases positive endorphins which helps to maintain a positive attitude.

  • Don’t overdo the news

We can’t avoid the topic of Covid-19, and of course it’s important to keep up to date with events. However, we can control how much we watch. Watching it all the time will only make you worry which can be damaging mentally. If you can, try to only watch news at one point during the day so it isn’t the one constant thing on your mind.

We hope that this blog will help you to maintain a positive mindset during these difficult times.
