Well… None of us ever predicted this would happen. However, the only way to keep our spirits up is see the positive in negative times. Seen as we are confined in our houses, lets take a look at what to do while trapped indoors.

  1. Luckily for us, we are allowed to go out once a day for exercise. As gyms are closed, we must take advantage of this. Even if you don’t feel like going out for a jog or run, go for a walk. Anything that you can do to get out of this house will benefit you, whether it is physically, mentally or emotionally. While out and about, be sure to remain a safe distance away from people. Even if you think that you are ‘fit and healthy’, it’s not just about you anymore. There will be other people in your house hold or neighbours that are vulnerable and you have to do whatever you can to protect them.
  2. Play board games. If you are lucky enough to spend your time inside with loved ones, crack out the board games. Although, don’t get too competitive as you won’t be able to escape each other this time.
  3. It might not be too different from what you do on a weekend normally, but binge watch TV. Pick out one of your old favourite TV series that you haven’t watched in a while and have a lazy day.
  4. If you are missing your family members and friends, video chat them. The modern day is well adapted so that people can work from home, FaceTime family and friends, have food deliveries and so on.
  5. Sort out anything you don’t normally have time to. Whether you have a muddled bookshelf, messy clothing draws, household chores. Now is the time to get them done. They’ll keep you busy and we all need to keep ourselves busy at these times.
  6. Get work done. If you have uni work to do, which of course you do, now is the time to do it. Although the world feels like it has come to a standstill, which it kind of has, we still have to carry on as much as we can.
  7. Read a book. We don’t always get enough time to do all the things we want to, so take advantage of the next three weeks. Besides, we could all do with a little escapism.
  8. Take this time to work on yourself. Do face masks, take up yoga, do home workouts. Do whatever you can do to calm yourself. We ought to do whatever we can to keep a clear head in times like these.
  9. If you were lucky enough to grab the essentials for baking… get too it!
  10. Learn a new hobby, use YouTube videos to take up something new. You have time on your hands to do so!

Remember that no matter what you do, keep your distance from people, even if they’re in your house. Stay safe and we will get through this together.
